Julie Jacobs has served as clergy for The Center for Jewish Life at Beth David Congregation for 18 years. She currently is Senior Rabbi and Cantor.

Rabbi Jacobs finds different ways to meet her congregation where they are in their faith, be it during services, seminars, and lifecycle moments, or simply bonding over a cup of coffee. She often infuses observance with music. She created the unique and hugely popular Friday night service Shabbat Pasión, and often uses her own compositions in musical events.

Rabbi is committed to Tikkun Olam. She was pivotal in the creation of the Tikvah Center at the Gordon School — Miami’s first Jewish Day School program for children on the Autism Spectrum. She has served on the Miami Board of Autism Speaks, and has raised over $100,000 for the non-profit over the past 10 years. Jacobs also served on the Executive Board of the Cantors Assembly.

Rabbi Jacobs’s deep love and understanding for our Jewish community sparked the concept of the Center for Jewish Life at Beth David — a new organization dedicated to serving Central Miami. While spearheading the capital campaign, she inspired a record-breaking $10 million commitment on Give Miami Day 2021.

Rabbi earned a Bachelors in Music in Vocal Performance from the Indiana University School of Music, her Diploma of Hazzan and Master of Sacred Music from the Jewish Theological Seminary, and her certificate of Hazzan-Minister from the Cantors Assembly. Recently, Rabbi completed a clergy fellowship with Join For Justice.

In her spare time, Rabbi is always with her family. Her husband, Orin, and children, Zev, Reya, Eitan, and Caleb, are all involved with Beth David and the Jewish community at large.

Rabbi Jacobs looks forward to serving The Center for Jewish Life at Beth David for many years to come. Email Rabbi Julie Jacobs or call her at (305) 854-3911.
